About Us

Twin Lakes Ranch Ministries is a faith-based, non-profit organization located just  minutes from Moose Jaw, SK on the #1 Highway of Heroes.  Founded by Ron and Lorna Silvester, their life-long desire has been to “give (people) a future and a hope.”   This began over 50 years ago as both Ron and Lorna had a desire to minister to youth and will continue to work in His Kingdom for the rest of their days.  Twin Lakes Ranch is a Working Ranch and an Apostolic Resource Center that exists to train and equip individuals to fully live out their destiny.

TLRM offers Christian Rodeo Bible Camps, Clinics and a fully functioning outdoor arena in which they use as a platform to present Jesus.  There are countless opportunities to be taught The Word of Faith in conferences, meetings and our regular “Word of Faith Night” every Tuesday evening.  The Ranch is a place where the rural and urban can connect, bringing generations and nationalities together with strong family values.  It is a place of healing and restoration. What began as an individual idea of trail rides many years ago is blossoming into a full-fledged program offering many facets of sport instruction, conference-type gatherings, educational opportunities and recreational events.

Twin Lakes Ranch Ministries is operated by a solid board with members coming from both Manitoba and Saskatchewan.  Ron and Lorna have two daughters, one son-in-law and four grandchildren.

Twin Lakes Ranch Ministries was started by its founders, Ron & Lorna Silvester.

We have both worked in summer camps during our teen years as well as after we were married. We directed several different camps in Saskatchewan as well as ‘Teen Ranch’ in South Africa.

In 1980 after moving to Mossbank we started having several teen trail rides each summer. This consisted of taking 25 teens on horseback, along with two covered wagons with gear for about 50 miles along the Old Wives Lake and Lake of the Rivers). Because of the location between the two lakes, the ministry got its name: Twin Lakes Ranch.

In the late 80’s we became involved with The Fellowship of Christian Cowboys attending many rodeos and doing Cowboy Church. Being involved with the rodeo world we saw a great need to reach our people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Wild West …conjures up images in our minds of rodeos, horse chases, cattle drives, and the like. We like to think of our ministry as being somewhat like the Wild West—appreciating beautiful country and the cowboy way of life along with the abundant life that Jesus came to give us. We love to see people learn about Jesus and how He loves them and show them how Jesus can change their lives.

Several parents were asking us, “How can we get our kids involved in rodeo?” We saw this as an opportunity to develop Christian rodeo schools on our ranch.

We started by building an outdoor arena and the first year 1991 ran only a bareback school. Later that year the Lord gave us the vision to run Rodeo Bible Camps for the youth (ages 10-19). Since then we have had Rodeo Bible Camps every summer, Rodeo Schools including Bareback, Tie-Down Roping, Team Roping, Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, Steer Riding and Bull Fighting.

We have seen the schools and camps grow to the capacity that we are presently needing an indoor arena so we can run the schools, etc. year round. Through the years many of the youth have become Christians so we are now involved with Bible studies, counseling and weddings.

In the fall of 2000 the Lord showed us that we need to sell our ranch and relocate the ministry. The vision He has given us for this ministry was too big for our ranch. He told us that we would sell our ranch and then He would show us where to go. So in May 2003 our ranch was sold and we moved to the city of Moose Jaw. This began our 10 year journey of looking for appropriate land.

And the Lord said to me, Write my answer on a billboard, large and clear, so that anyone can read it at a glance and rush to tell the others. But these things I plan won’t happen right away, slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day! Habukkuk 2:2-3

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord Isaiah 61:2a

We have dedicated our lives to helping people come into their destiny. We believe each person, young and old were created by God for a purpose on this earth. We have a passion to work with anyone who is willing to find their destiny, but we especially like to work with youth to get them started on a solid-life long journey. The issues of life today have become complex and have left many bruised and broken. We believe that we have the tools to build the brokenness into wholeness.

He will give beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise instead of despair. Isaiah 61:3

This is the land of promise.  After ten years of praying, believing and searching for the place to relocate, Twin Lakes Ranch Ministries has a wonderful home, a place to grow and connect just five minutes east of Moose Jaw on the #1 Highway.

Founders, Ron and Lorna Silvester, formerly of Mossbank SK, made a choice to leave their own ranch in reach of a piece of land where Twin Lakes Ranch Ministries could be more accessible to people, places and events.  The search finally ended in the fall of 2010 when a local Moose Jaw man approached the couple to inquire of their interest in his land.  This was indeed an answer to many prayers.

Twin Lakes Ranch Ministries was founded out of a heart for helping youth.  It began as an outreach to local horse-savvy kids who desired to live out on the land for five days, riding through the picturesque country of southern Saskatchewan.  Living in tents, cooking over open fires and carrying their belongings on their saddle were an amazing way to spend a summer holiday.  After ten summers of just plain hard work and determination, the emphasis turned to a more centralized location on the Silvester’s ranch where they focused on helping youth in rodeo.  Rodeo Bible Camps and Rodeo Schools with top-notch instructors were provided for those desiring to learn rodeo skills in a safe and controlled atmosphere.  Once again, friendships were made that will last a lifetime.

More than 1800 young people have come through the gates of Twin Lakes Ranch.  Since the sale of Silvester’s ranch, they relocated to Moose Jaw where they continued with their ministry to youth and anyone interested in being connected with them.  During the transition from the ranch at Mossbank to the present ranch location, rodeo schools and clinics were hosted at several different arenas in the local area.  Of course, this was not an ideal situation not having a central location to run out of but Ron and Lorna had the privilege of being connected with many amazing people during that period of time.

Since relocating the ranch in 2010, there have been many changes and improvements. A manager’s home was brought to the land in 2016. Presently, there is an outdoor arena, a bathroom/shower facility and a meeting place (Dally Inn) for the events throughout the year. Check out our current events!

The program to be offered at The Ranch requires a community of people to make the vision come to pass.  We have plans to expand the facilities and program as funds and staff are supplied. “We believe God has people in place with a vision to help youth who will provide what is needed to make this a success.”

Twin Lakes Ranch Ministries is operated by a solid board with members coming from both Manitoba and Saskatchewan.  What began as an individual idea of trail rides is blossoming into a full-fledged program offering many facets of sport instruction, conference-type gatherings, educational opportunities and recreational events.  “These past ten years have been preparation for what lies ahead,” says Silvester.  “We’re very excited about the future.  We’ve entered our promised land.”

Ron and Lorna and the staff and board of Twin Lakes Ranch Ministries look forward with fresh vision, hope and anticipation for the future!  Hebrews 6:12 says it is through faith and patience that a promise is inherited.  This is truly the story of Twin Lakes Ranch Ministries.  This Ministry is living in their Promised Land.
